One of the biggest, and arguably the best organised technology expos comes to Amsterdam at the beginning of October 2024 for the sixth year running. Taking place over two days, the TechEx event combines an exhibition floor, speaker stages, networking areas, catering and relaxation areas.

Unlike smaller, more sparsely populated industry events, when the TechEx caravan rolls into town (there are also London and Santa Clara events running next year), attendees get eight enterprise technology events rolled into one very large space.

And it will have to be a very large space. The organisers expect over 7,000 attendees and nearly 200 exhibitors, plus there are around 150 speakers to timetable in. It’s free to attend – see links below – but for the full experience, there’s an Ultimate Pass priced at €1199 which adds access to all paid stage content, an invite to the networking party held in the evening after the first day of the expo (October 1st), plus use of a dedicated networking app to download and use during and after the event.

The participating events are (in alphabetical order):

As you might imagine, the full speaker list is diverse, drawing from the public, private and academic sectors, and representing industry C-suite, technology gurus, industry body leaders, innovators from startups and decision-makers from stalwart institutions.

With only a few details left to confirm, the speaker list of over 150 includes:

  • Danone – Naina Bhattacharya – Global CISO
  • NBC Bank – Samwel Magesa – CDO
  • Arla Foods – Thomas Zuliani – Clobal CISO
  • Wordline – Chandrashekhar Kachole – CTO
  • Adecco – Khagesh Batra – Adecco
  • Dutch Data Center Association – Stijn Grove – Founder
  • NATO – Andrew Byrd – Cyberspace and Cyber Defence Officer
  • NVIDIA – Rod Evans – Supercomputing & AI
  • Responsible AI Institute – Hadassas Drukarch – Director of Policy and Delivery
  • Siemens Energy – Mahamed Ahmed – Lead Data Scientist
  • State Inspectorate of Digital Infrastructure (NL) – Meindert Kamphuis – Head of AI Safety and Security Lab
  • Zoom – Patrick Kelley – Distinguished Architect

There’s representation from household-name companies (ING, Lenovo and the UK’s Blue Prism, for example) and niche players across the featured tracks. As you might expect, many of the organisations attending fall into several categories: the IoT/IIoT industry’s ongoing transformation, for example, means exhibitors’ presence in the AI and Big Data track as well as in the more specialist IoT Tech and Edge Expo.

Having all these events in one combined space means attendees can pursue their particular niche or area of interest or come to Amsterdam with the intention of learning something new. Regardless of role, attendees are guaranteed to learn about the latest advances in enterprise technology.

The event is also designed to offer serious networking possibilities, not least at the networking party held in the evening of the first day (Ultimate Pass holders only). Plus, there are breakout areas, informal relaxation areas, on-site catering and designated meeting spaces. Previous attendees have reported coming away with new supply chain partners, fertile leads and prospects, and in many cases, significant new business.

The people you’ll meet on the show floor are likely to be a diverse bunch: expect industrial operations managers alongside technology geeks, cybersecurity professionals and robot designers ensconced in conversation, and call centre operators chatting with data centre engineers.

In addition to the commercial organisations in attendance, expect to hear from researchers and academics, representatives from non-profits, open-source evangelists and software trailblazers. The strength of TechEx lies in both its diversity and the depth of specialisations on show.
